ACCIDENTS
• On July 24, at 2:24 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of North 8th Street and East Oak Street. Randal Barr, 63, Red Oak, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, was traveling south on 8th Street and had stopped for the car in front of him at the stop sign. Claudia Pilecki, 63, Red Oak, driving a 2014 Nissan Sentra, was traveling east on Oak Street, came to the yield sign and, according to the report, did not see the Barr vehicle due to bright sun. Pilecki pulled away from the yield sign and drove into the Barr vehicle. Damage to the Barr vehicle was about $$1,800, while damage to the Pilecki was about $3,000. Pilecki was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.
• On July 25, at 3:10 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the Highway 34/Highway 48 intersection. Annette Archer, 62, Red Oak, driving a 2002 Kia Rio, was traveling south on Highway 34 when her vehicle crossed Highway 48 and broadsided a 2016 Toyota 4Runner driven by Helen Riley, 56, Atlantic, which was turning west onto Highway 34. Damage to the Rio was about $900, and damage to the 4Runner was about $1,300. Archer was cited for failure to provide proof of financial liability.
