ACCIDENTS
• On July 1, at 4:02 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Summit Street. Karlette Hultman, 81, Red Oak, driving a 2012 Buick LaCrosse Premium, was traveling south on Highland Avenue and crossing Summit Street when her vehicle was struck by a 2007 Ford Five Hundred driven by Theron Pace, 23, Fort Morgan, Colo., which was traveling west on Summit Street and turning onto Highland Avenue. Estimated damage to the Hultman vehicle was $800, and damage to the Pace vehicle was about $2,500. No citations were issued for the accident, but Hultman was cited for driving with an expired driver’s license.
• On July 4, at 10:30 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 1700 block of Eastern Avenue. Pablo Ramos Ramos, 17, Red Oak, driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Amador Ramos Maciel, was backing out of a driveway when his vehicle ran into a 2011 Dodge Nitro owned by Mariah Lombard that was legally parked. Damage to the Ramos Ramos vehicle was about $600, while damage to the Lombard vehicle was estimated at $1,700. Ramos Ramos was cited for operation of a motor vehicle with expired license.
• On July 5, at 3:08 p.m., Red Oak Police officers were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Coolbaugh Street and Broadway. Mark Peterson, 46, Red Oak, driving a 1979 Honda CB750K motorcycle, was traveling south on Broadway when he left the roadway and collided with a concrete flowerbed. He fell off the motorcycle, sustaining minor injuries, and was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. According to the report, Peterson stated he had given plasma earlier in the day and did not remember the accident. He also stated he had suffered from memory loss in the past. Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $500. No citations were issued.
• On July 7, at 9:52 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of North 2nd Street and Oak Street. Juan Galicia Garnica, Red Oak, driving a 2011 Jee Patriot Sport, was traveling north of North 2nd Street when, according to the report, he stopped and put his vehicle in reverse, hitting a Red Oak Police patrol car driven by Officer Zach Ward. Damage to the Galicia Garnica vehicle was about $500, while damage to the patrol car was estimated at $3,500. Galicia Garnica was arrested for OWI first offense and is being held on $1,000 cash bond.
