• Filed June 13, Sheryl Franzen, 64, Red Oak, theft fifth degree, $300 bond.

ACCIDENTS

• On June 8, at 3:46 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a hit and run accident in the 1000 block of East Valley Street. According to the report, witnesses stated that a silver car hit a power pole, snapping it off, and then left the scene. Chelsea Hale, 29, Red Oak, who was driving a 2015 Volkswagon Passat, was subsequently cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the vehicle was about $5,000, and damage to the pole, owned by Midamerican Energy, was about $1,000. Other charges are still pending investigation.

• On June 12, at 11:28 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-car accident at the intersection of West Oak Street and Broadway. Paul Roby, 96, Red Oak, driving a 2002 Toyota Camry, was traveling east on Oak Street, and Clinton Sunderman, 73, Clarinda, driving a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup, was traveling north on Broadway. According to the report, the Roby vehicle entered the intersection, the driver lost control, turned sharply to the south, and his vehicle struck the Sunderman vehicle. Witness reports stated the Roby vehicle was traveling well over the speed limit. Damage to the Roby vehicle was about $5,000, and it was considered a total loss. Damage to the Sunderman vehicle was about $3,000. Roby was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Rescue with minor injuries. No citations have been issued.

• On June 14, at 5:30 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of North 4th and Joy streets. Alexander Wiechmann, 26, Council bluffs, driving a 2007 Jeep Compass, was traveling north on 4th Street, became distracted, and struck a utility pole belonging to MidAmerican Energy. Damage to the Jeep was about $5,000. Damage to the utility pole was about $500. There were no injuries, and Wiechmann was cited for failure to maintain control. More charges could follow pending investigation.
