ACCIDENTS

• On Feb. 22, at 2:22 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of North 8th and Corning streets. Harlan Ebert, Jr., 92, Red Oak, driving a 2015 GMC Terrain, was traveling north on 8th Street and was stopped at the stop sign at Corning Street. Thomas Bronk, 63, Red Oak, driving a 2001 Ford F25 pick up, was behind Ebert. Ebert began to pull into the intersection and had to stop for an oncoming car. Bronk did not see the Ebert vehicle stop and ran into the rear end, causing about $1,000 damage to the Ebert vehicle and no damage to the pick up. Bronk was cited for following too closely.

• On Feb. 22, at 3:30 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of North 1st Street and Linden streets. Ann Vandrey, 17, Red Oak, driving a 2009 Jeep Compass owned by Katherine Vandrey, Red Oak, was traveling south on 1st Street and approached the stop sign. Michael Irvin, 65, Hastings, driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pick up, was traveling east on Linden Street and proceeding through the intersection. Vandrey failed to stop and her vehicle struck the Irvin vehicle. Damage to the Vandrey vehicle was about $2,000, and damage to the Irvin vehicle was about $2,500. Vandrey was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.

• On Feb. 26, at 12: 12 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Broadway and Oak streets. Roger Ehmke, 76, Red Oak, driving a 2016 Nissan Frontier pick up, was traveling south on Broadway, was stopped in the intersection and waiting for traffic to clear so he could turn left onto Oak Street. Teresa Nelson, 56, Red Oak, driving a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville, was behind the Ehmke vehicle waiting to turn left but ran the red light to turn immediately behind the Ehmke vehicle and collided with the rear of it. Damage to the Ehmke vehicle was about$1,500 damage, and damage to the Nelson vehicle was about $800. Nelson was cited with failure to obey traffic control device.
