ACCIDENTS

• On Feb. 21, at about 8:48 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a one-vehicle accident in the 200 block of Washington Avenue. Rose Smith, 79, Red Oak, driving a 2009 Smart car, placed the vehicle into reverse and pushed the accelerator too hard. The vehicle moved abruptly, turned and ended on top of the ramp on the side of a home belonging to Michelle Woodhull. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $800, and damage to the ramp was about $2,000. No citations were issued.

• On Feb. 21, at about 10:06 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a one-vehicle, rollover accident on 270th Street near Dogwood Avenue west of Coburg. Dillion Baldwin, 19, Shenandoah, driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, swerved to miss a deer and entered the south ditch, where the vehicle rolled and came to rest on its top. Baldwin was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by private vehicle with possible minor injuries. Baldwin was cited for failure to maintain control, and damage to the vehicle is estimated at $4,000.

• On Feb. 25, at about 9:10 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 1500 block of 200th Street. Amy Long, 41, Macedonia, driving a 2004 Ford Explorer owned by Scott Sargent of Macedonia, was traveling east on 200th Street and began to make a left turn into a driveway. David Rayburn, 39, Emerson, driving a 2014 Dodge Dart, tried to pass and struck the Long vehicle. Damage to the Long vehicle is estimated at $2,000, and damage to the Rayburn vehicle was about $5,000. Long was cited for having an expired driver’s license, and Rayburn was cited for unsafe passing.
