ACCIDENTS

•  On Feb. 14, at about 4:15 p.m., Red Oak Police officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident. Will Horsley, 34, Villisca, driving a 2016 Dodge Ram pick-up, was exiting the Hy-Vee Plaza and turning north onto Broadway. Colton Story, 20, Henderson, driving a 1990 Honda Accord, was traveling south on Broadway and failed to stop at the red light at the Cherry Street intersection. The Horsley vehicle, which was pulling a small, one-axle utility trailer carrying a Bobcat 200 UTV, attempted to get out of the way of the Story vehicle but failed to do so.  The Story vehicle struck the left rear of the trailer and partially knocked the UTV off. The trailer was considered a total loss with about $3,000 damage, and there was damage to the UTV and the trailer hitch on the pick-up as well. Damage to the Story vehicle was estimated at $5,000, and it was also considered a total loss. Story was cited for OWI second offense, failure to stop at the red light, and minor in possession of alcohol. There were no injuries.
