Rain does not dampen Tiger spirit

Friday, Aug. 19, a community-wide pep rally was held for the Tiger fall sports teams and Red Oak Tiger marching band. The Tag-A-Long Booster Club provided a meal. The coaches for the fall sports introduced their teams, and the band director, Dan Black recognized the marching band.
“We have doubled in size,” Black announced to a gym full of cheers. “We will be playing at every home game this year.”
Plans were for a football scrimmage to be held after the pep rally, but due to inclement weather, the scrimmage was played during the rally.
“We wanted to get as much play time in as possible,” Coach Barry Bower said.
The Tigers had invited the Atlantic Trojans football team to compete in the scrimmage. With the warning of bad weather, the coaches moved the scrimmage to the practice field. Despite the rain and cool air, many spectators stood outside or sat in their cars to see what Red Oak football has to offer this year.
The scrimmage lasted for about an hour before the weather came in and blew the completion of the scrimmage. The community seemed ready for some fall ball, and the Tigers looked ready to oblige.
