Race Weekend: May 31

It's another weekend to catch racing around the area.

Adams County Speedway

There is some separation between some of the leaders in the series' at Adams County Speedway.

The closest points race at the moment is in the Northland Oil Pro-Stocks series. Brad Derry (127) holds a three point lead over Joe Zadina, with Greg Miller and Tony Hardisty close behind. All four placed in the top four spots last week, with Miller winning, Derry second, Hardisty third and Zadina fourth.

Elsewhere, Jon Plowman picked up his fourth win of the season last week in the Stalker Chevrolet B-Mods series. Plowman has 200 points and sits 24 ahead of Jerod Weston. Darrin Hardisty and Josh Sink sit closely behind Weston in third and fourth. Weston finished second last week as he has two wins, four top fives and five top tens for the season.

Jesse Dennis also scored his fourth win of the season in the Poet Biorefining Modifieds Series. Dennis (180) holds a 56 point lead over Brian Foote. Additionally, Dennis has four of the six wins thus far this season. Ryan Peckham, who sits seventh in the standings, has the other two victories.

In the Chat Mobility Hobby Stocks series, Dusty Van Horn picked up his second win of the season last week. With the win, Van Horn moved up to eighth in the point standings with 116. Jeremy Purdy (178 points), who has six top five finishes this season, currently holds a 14 point lead over Thomas Myers. Andy Davison sits 19 points back of Purdy.

In the Coors Light Late Models series, Chris Spieker made his third trip to victory lane this season with his win last week. Spieker also has five top five finishes and 173 points to lead the pack. Jason O'Brien sits second, 18 points behind.

Shelby County Speedway

It will be the Kenny Buse Memorial this weekend at the Shelby County Speedway in Harlan.

The action is starting to heat up in Harlan as several series' have close points races.

The closest race is in the N. Sport Mod series as Dale Pash (186) holds a one point lead over Dennis Cook. Cody Olsen sits two points back and Jared Hansen is six back. Cook gained ground on Pash when he finished third last week.

The Hobby Stock series is also close as Jason Fusselman (186) holds a three point lead over Jeff Fink. Fusselman finished third last week, while Fink was sixth.

Jay Stewart (199) holds a four point lead over Al Zeitner, with Melvin Zeitner sitting third eight points back, in the Late Model series.

In the Sport Compact series, Caine Mahlberg leads with 198 points and is 14 ahead of Cody Thompson. Tyler Thompson sits third with 19 back.

Mike Nichols (193) has a 15 point lead over Mike Stapleton in the Stock Car series. Nichols won last week, beating out Keith Knop and Devin Smith.

In the Modified series, Jesse Sobbing has a 25 point lead over Brad Bergren. Sobbing finished second last week, behind Nick Deal.
