PPEL vote on Feb. 7

The Red Oak School Board  board decided last week to hold a special election on Feb. 8, 2017, to renew a physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL) for the district. 

The PPEL, if approved by voters, would go into effect after the district’s current PPEL expires in 2020. If approved, the extended PPEL will remain in place 10 years. 

“This was a recommendation from our working sessions, as well as in past meetings,” board President Paul Griffen said. 

Board member Bret Blackman highlighted the need for the PPEL as the district moves forward. “Regardless of what happens in the district from a facilities standpoint, we know this is a critical component in keeping our facilities operational,” Blackman said.
