Postseason accolades continue for Red Oak and Stanton
Two Red Oak and two Stanton volleyball players were selected for the All-State team, released by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association last Wednesday.
In 3A, Kate Walker and Grace Blomstedt were the selections for Red Oak.
Walker was named first team all-state, while Blomstedt was an honorable mention selection.
Walker was joined on first team by Alexis Conaway and Shelby Schouten of MOC-Floyd Valley, Claire Ludwig of Kuemepr Catholic, Jessica Van Beek of Sheldon, Maria Wrage of Union and Kelsey Redmond of Iowa Falls.
Blomstedt meanwhile made the honorable mention list for 3A, which includes Kuemper Catholic’s Morgan Naberhaus, MOC-Floyd Valley’s Alyssa Brown, Center Point-Urbana’s Kennady Salow, West Liberty’s Molly Kelly, East Sac County’s Shae Blum and Bondurant Farrar’s Ashlee Burrows.
In Class 1A, Carmen Subbert and Erin DeKay were both selected for the all-state team. Subbert was picked for first team, while DeKay was an honorable mention honoree.
Joining Subbert on the first team list includes Janesville’s Sylvia Amlie, Kendyl Sorge and Brittany Hanson and Toni Moeller of Tripoli.
All-District
Red Oak and Stanton volleyball also had players selected for the all-district team in their respective classes.
Kate Walker was the only all-district player for Red Oak as she was picked for the 3A West District, which also features players from Kuemepr Catholic, MOC-Flyod Valley, Sheldon and Clarinda.
Stanton meanwhile had three players selected for the 1A South West District team. Subbert, DeKay and setter Macy Elwood also made the team for Stanton.
In addition, Stanton Volleyball Coach Jody Druivenga was named the District Coach of the Year for the South West District.
It’s the second straight year that Druivenga was named District Coach of the Year.
Stanton and Red Oak both made the state tournaments, losing in the quarterfinals.
