Phyllis Bradley, 87

Phyllis Bradley, 87, of Red Oak, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Care Center.  

Phyllis N. Bradley was born to Lue Eddie and Edna (Luzio) Hunt Feb. 16, 1924, in Silver City. She graduated from the Glenwood High School in 1942, and married Byron “Bud” Bradley April 16, 1944, in Glenwood.  

Phyllis lived all her life in the Red Oak and Southwest Iowa area, and retired from Union Carbide Battery Company after 25 years of service.  

Phyllis enjoyed playing games of all kinds including cards, bingo crossword puzzles and bowling, but she especially enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino. Phyllis also treasured the time that she spent with her grandchildren.  

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bud Bradley, on July 15, 1987; her son,  Doug Bradley, on Jan. 11, 1986; sister, Kathleen Pfeiffer; and two brothers, Don Hunt and Virgil Hunt.  

Survivors include her daughters, Beverly ( Doug) Lawrence, of Corning, and Pamela (Kenard) Kucker, of Red Oak; six grandchildren, Angie Quist and Jeremy Clark, of Red Oak, Wendy (Dale) Fish, of Red Oak, Amy Jessen and Jeremy Funk, of Red Oak, Cindy (Brian) Orr, of Red Oak,  Barb (Jim)  Jones, of Elliott, and Robert Waggener, of Hanover, Pa.; 16 great-grandchildren, Sadie and Braden Quist, of Red Oak, Kyle (Anne) Quist, of Atlantic, Mitch Perdue, of West Des Moines, Taylor Perdue, of Ames, Kelsey Perdue, of Red Oak, Nathan Guffey, of Red Oak,  Jordan (Terence) Magill, of Elliott, Blaire (Levi) Gade, of Griswold, Andrew (Midori) Orr, of Omaha, Courtney and Zachary Orr, of Red Oak, Allyson and Jacob Jones, of Elliott, and Megan and Ryan Waggener, of Hanover; six great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Quist, Zane and Owen Magill, and Myah, Addy Jo, and Ella Gade; brothers, Keith (Jewel) Hunt, of Coffeyville, Kan., and Delbert (Jane) Hunt, of Council Bluffs; sister, Donna (Leonard) Carlson, of Red Oak; sisters-in-law, Nelly Hunt, of Red Oak, and Wilma (Glenn) Johnson, of Glenwood; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
