Philip Shannon, 64

Philip D. Shannon, 64, of Council Bluffs, passed away Dec. 5, 2011, at hospice with Heart Hospice House in Glenwood.

Phil was born to the late Harry and Virginia (McCune) Shannon Aug. 16, 1947, in Wichita, Kan. He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1965 and attended IWCC and Buena Vista University.

Phil served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army  during the Vietnam War.

He married Lyndora Neal Nov. 23, 1980.

Phil retired from the State of Iowa as an auditor in April of 2010, after 35 years of service. He was a former member of the Elks Club and CB Gun Club.

Phil was preceded in death by his sister, Kay Seebach.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lindy Shannon and his sons, Stephen and Kevin Shannon, all of Council Bluffs.

Memorial services took place Friday, Dec. 9, at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel with military rites tendered by VFW Post #737. Refreshments and fellowship followed at the Funeral Home.
