Page County resident sentenced to more than 5 years in prison on possession charges

U.S. Attorney Marc Krickbaum announced that Page County resident, 28-year-old Devon Miller, was sentenced in U.S. District Court Wednesday, Feb. 27, to 66 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Miller was sentenced for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances while in possession of a firearm.

The charges stem from a traffic stop in July 2017 in Mills County. Authorities say Miller did not have a driver's license and provided a false name. An investigation yielded over 100 pills -- including oxycodone, adderall and hydrocodone -- as well as a loaded .45-caliber handgun. A subsequent investigation revealed Miller was selling pills throughout southwest Iowa.

The case was investigated by the Mills County Sheriff's Office, Taylor County Sheriff's Office and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
