Suzanne (Kurtenback) Fleer

With heavy hearts, Suzanne Patrice Fleer, lovingly known as Sue, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, surrounded by family in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Sue was born on Feb. 25, 1937 in Omaha, Neb. Shortly thereafter, her parents, Neal and Marcellyn (Pryor) Kurtenback, moved the family to Red Oak.
Sue attended school in Red Oak and completed her high school education at the Duchesne Academy in Omaha. She later continued her studies at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Sue’s professional career began with United Airlines. It was there that she met her future husband, Darryl Fleer. They were married on Jan. 20, 1962. Sue also worked at the Rodeo Hall of Fame Museum, serving as Guest Services Manager, along with volunteering at Memorial Hospital gift shop, generously giving her time to her community.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Darryl; her three sons, William Neal and wife Susan, Mark Thomas and wife Ellen, and Steven Fredrick and wife Bianca; four cherished grandchildren, Austin and wife Madison, Kendall, Madison, and Ethan; and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Lincoln. Sue was dedicated to her family and leaves a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness that will live on through all that knew her.
Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
