Sheri Cowley, 84

Sheri Lynn Cowley, 84, Red Oak, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at Arlington Place surrounded by her family.
Sheri was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Cleburne, Texas, the daughter of Roy Dean and Edna Lightfoot. She was raised in Cleburne, where she enjoyed spending time at a café that her father and mother owned. In 1958, Sheri was united in marriage to Ronald Cowley. Two children were born to this union, Donna and Michael.
Sheri was a beloved follower of Christ and enjoyed going to church, reading, doing word searches, coloring, and spending time with her family. She spent most of her time in Texas. Sheri and Ronald moved to Des Moines in 1990, when their first grandchild was born. They spent 15 years in Iowa with their family before moving to Amarillo, Texas, in 2005. Sheri was involved in her church, Trinity Fellowship, in Amarillo, where she served in women’s groups.
In 2022, Sheri and Ronald relocated to Red Oak to be with their family. Sheri enjoyed spending time with her great-granddaughter.
Sheri was a gentle, kind, loving, and encouraging supporter of all people she encountered. To know her was to love her.
Preceding her in death were her parents; stepmother, Opal; sister-in-law and brother-in-law; aunts and uncles; and infant grandson, Matthew Dean Davenport.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 65 years, Ronald Cowley of Red Oak; daughter, Donna Davenport of Red Oak; son, Michael Cowley of Amarillo, Texas; granddaughters, Morgan Ridlen and husband Brandon of Red Oak, and Michelle Cowley and partner Sydney Cobb of Fort Worth, Texas; great-granddaughter, Raya Ridlen of Red Oak; and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak.
