Ron was born on June 22, 1949, in Red Oak, the son of Merrill and Florence (Hatfield) Settell.  He graduated from Essex High School in 1967 and went on to earn an Associate degree in Retail Marketing Management at Iowa Central Community College.  On November 11, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Virginia “Ginny” I. Bradway in Red Oak. Ron’s employment included Gudmonson Service, Tractor Supply, Fort Dodge Steel and Shoppers Supply where Ron made a career in Retail/Agriculture and enjoyed working with the farming customers.  His greatest love was farming – especially on the farm with his son-in-laws and the farmers he met from his time at Shoppers Supply.  He also enjoyed dog showing with the family, woodworking, and crafts which were also important to him.  Above all, family was number one!
Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ginny Settell of Fort Dodge; two children, Deborah Allard and husband Wade of Gowrie, and Kathryn Egeland and husband Lynn of Madison, Wis.; five grandchildren, Kim Sande, Kraig Sande and Skylar Berdaus and Sasha McReynolds and Benny; and four great-grandchildren, Kinley Sande, Mjay Monahan, Gus and Monte McReynolds.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
