Kevin Smith, 54

Kevin Ray Smith, 54, Omaha, Neb., formerly of Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at his home.
Kevin was born Aug. 31, 1968, in Red Oak, the son of Donnie and Sharon (Goodnight) Smith. He graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1987 and attended Iowa Western Community College for two years. Kevin worked for D & L in Red Oak for many years until moving to Omaha. In Omaha, he worked for American Fencing and S & W Fencing before working for LaRue Coffee for 10 years. Most recently he worked for Valmont Company until retiring due to illness.
Kevin was united in marriage to Kristi Svendsen on Dec. 12, 2012, in Omaha, Neb. Kevin loved music and played in many bands throughout the years. He also loved sports and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker and Cowboys fan.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Kristi Smith of Omaha, Neb.; children, Lauren Cantrell and husband Mike of Conshohocken, Penn.; Alex Rae Huebner and husband Nate of Mesa, Ariz.; and Haley Marie Smith of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Scarlett Rae Smith of Omaha, Neb. and Bennett Robert Huebner of Mesa, Ariz.; siblings, Dee Sowers of Red Oak; Kale Wenberg of Red Oak; Scott Smith and wife Elizabeth of Lantana, Fla.; Angie Akers and husband Mike of Shenandoah; Shaunda Cohen and husband Pedro of Kansas City, Mo.; and Jennifer Selock and husband Scott of Kansas City, Mo.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Sandy Svendsen of Omaha, Neb.; nieces and nephews, including Trevor Scanlan of Shenandoah; Dallas Wenberg of Red Oak; and Alayna Hughes of Council Bluffs; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
