Kevin Hale, 53

Kevin L. Hale, 53, Red Oak, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak.
Kevin Hale, the son of Arthur Mervin Hale and Dorothy M. (McBride) Hale, was born May 22, 1969, in Red Oak. Kevin grew up in Red Oak, where he was a 1987 graduate of Red Oak High School. While in school, he was active playing football, tennis and baseball.
Following graduation, Kevin earned his business degree from Buena Vista University, Storm Lake. He moved back home to Red Oak and over his working career worked for D&L Company in Red Oak; Lozier, of Omaha, Neb.; Oakland Foods of Oakland; and for 15 years at NSK of Clarinda as a quality control engineer.
On Feb.10, 2007, Kevin was united in marriage to Stephanie Thurman in Red Oak. Kevin dearly loved his family, traveling with Stephanie and taking family vacations together. Kevin’s friends were also like family and he treasured going hunting, fishing, golfing and hanging out together. He enjoyed playing poker and hosted Monday night poker with a great group of guys. Kevin was also a devoted Pittsburg Steelers fan, loved attending bass fishing tournaments and umpiring softball games. A true outdoorsman, Kevin was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and served as a board member of the Montgomery County Shooting Club.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Norman.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Stephanie Hale of Red Oak; daughters, Marissa (Travis) Keifer of Grinnell, Erica Sherman of Des Moines, and Lauren Thurman of Omaha, Neb.; granddaughter, Braylen Payton; nieces, Mandy Knapp and Jennifer (Daniel) Wright; mother and stepfather-in-law, Terry and Patti Haley; and father-in-law, Richard Thurman; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 26, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Red Oak. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak. Pastor Jennifer Van Nostrand will officiate.
Visitation with the family will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Red Oak, on Thursday, May 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials may be given in Kevin’s name to the family for future designation. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at sldfuneralhome.com.
