Joseph Evans, 84

Joseph David Evans, 84, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 30, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak.
Joe Evans was born Oct. 2, 1939, in Murphy Memorial Hospital Red Oak, the son of L. Donald and Margaret (Anderson) Evans.
Joe lived the majority of his life on the family farm. He graduated from Elliott High School with the Class of 1959.
On June 10, 1961, he was united in marriage to Ila Butler in the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua. They resided in Red Oak for a few years before moving to the family farm where they would spend the next 58 years.
He worked several jobs in Red Oak before returning to the farm and working alongside his father. He was a true steward of the land. In his younger years, he was a member of the Waveland Raiders 4-H Club and belonged to the Center Ridge Calf Club. He enjoyed attending antique car shows and watching WWE wrestling. He loved his basset dogs, John Deere tractors, and 1954 Fords. A highlight in August would be family vacations.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Donald Evans; in-laws, Ruby and Glenn Butler; granddaughter, Sara Venatta; and cousin, Jack Kessel.
Those left to cherish is memory include his wife of 63 years, Ila Evans; daughter, Gail (Larry) Brickel of Morse Bluff, Neb.; son, Steve (Angie) Evans of Elliott; grandchildren, Missy (Dillon) Hadcock of LaVista, Neb.; Angie (John) White and Kenny Brickel, both of North Bend, Neb.; Kendra Venatta of Omaha, Neb.; Brandon (Peyton) Venatta of Washington, Iowa; and Brianna Venatta and Ryan Venatta both of Elliott; six great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Sidney) Evans of Omaha, Neb.; sister, Mary (Rich) Fuller of Norwalk; brother-in-law, David (Carolyn) Butler of Red Oak; other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at the Center Ridge Presbyterian Church. Interment was at the Center Ridge Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the family.
