Gregory Freeman, 64

Gregory Freeman, 64, Cape Coral, Fla., passed away from a rare aggressive cancer on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center, Fort Myers, Fla.
Gregory Joel Freeman, the son of Joel and Patricia (Halbert) Freeman, was born Jan. 4, 1959, in Corning. Greg was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1977. He attended Northwest Iowa Community College, Sheldon, for heating and air. Greg’s career in the HVAC field began with Bradway Heating & Cooling in Red Oak.
On Oct. 18, 1980, Greg was united in marriage to Sharon Quist in Stanton. Over his career, they lived and he worked in Omaha, the Chicagoland area and north central Illinois. In 2019, Greg sold his business in DeKalb, Ill., and he and Sharon moved to Cape Coral, Fla., to enjoy retirement. Greg then began working in Florida for LCEC, Lee County Electrical Coop.
Greg enjoyed boating, traveling, and racing. He was a part of multiple racing teams, locally and nationally. Greg loved his ’57 Chevy and ’69 Plymouth Roadrunner, which he loved to show off at many classic car shows. As all of his friends know, Greg was an avid fan of KISS. He attended over 20 concerts in his lifetime and went all out when dressing up as lead singer, Paul Stanley. Greg had fun entertaining and always had stories to tell. He loved his dog “Hans” and his baby granddaughter, Presley, born April of 2022. He leaves behind so many wonderful friends. Greg was patient, generous, loving, fun, competitive, a wonderful handyman, and always found a solution to a problem.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Joel Freeman; mother, Patricia Hanscom; brother, Todd Wagaman; and father-in-law, Harlan Quist.
Greg is survived by his wife, Sharon Freeman of Cape Coral, Fla.; daughter, Andrea Freeman and fiancé, Chris Hyle of South Beloit, Ill.; brother, Leonard Freeman of Denver, Colo.; mother-in-law, Carolyn Quist of Red Oak; brother-in-law, Dennis Quist of Stanton; sisters-in-law, Sandra Quist and Steve Underwood of Council Bluffs, and Nancy and Lynn Mulherin of Naperville, Ill.; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and so many friends.

Visitation and viewing with family present will be on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m.
A private family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak.
