Esther McHenry, 100

Esther Linnea McHenry, 100, Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at Arlington Place Assisted Living.
Esther was born March 5, 1922, near Red Oak, the daughter of Severin B. and Ingeborg (Hanson) Anderson.
Esther was a lifetime resident of the Red Oak area and taught school for 43 years in Montgomery, Page, and Mills counties. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Organization, the Church of the Nazarene, and Happy Warblers.
Esther was married to Ralph Wayne McHenry on June 28, 1953, who preceded her in death on May 15, 1991.
Survivors include a niece, Joyce Royston; several cousins in Sweden; many great-nieces and -nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, the ALS Foundation, or the Church of the Nazarene.
