Dean Raabe, 77

Dean Warren Raabe, 77, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.
Dean Raabe was born Dec. 13, 1946, in West Point, Neb., to Warren and Sylvia Raabe. He attended St. John Lutheran school and graduated from Wisner High School in 1965. In 1970, he graduated from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, where he met his wife, Linda Pawluk. They were married Aug. 8, 1970. He received his Masters degree in School Administration at UNO in 1983.
Dean was a teacher/principal in Lutheran schools in Milwaukee, Wis., and Houston, Texas before moving to the Midwest. In Omaha, he was a teacher in Millard Public Schools and a principal in Red Oak and Beatrice, Neb., before his final stop at Concordia Lutheran Schools, where he retired in 2013.
He never lost his love for working with youth, as he subbed in multiple local districts, coached high school softball with his son, Chris, organized youth fishing events for Concordia schools and worked with young people through game and parks. In addition he served diligently in ministry in local prisons and the youth detention center where he brought the good news of Christ to everyone he came in contact with.
Dean loved fishing, gardening, woodworking, and being with his family. He taught his granddaughters how to drive, became the number one fan for whatever his children and grandchildren loved to do, and he told stories. Dean Raabe never met a stranger, and could often be found chatting and laughing on the sidelines of a soccer game or in a church pew or with a neighbor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his son, Chris Raabe (Melanie) of Omaha, Neb.; his daughters, Angela Firuccia (John) of Kansas City, Mo.; and Holly Leeds (Stephen) of Papillion, Neb.; his grandchildren, Emma Marvin (Joe), Reagan Raabe, and Olivia Raabe; and great-granddaughter, Willow Marvin; two sisters, Lois Hoger (Lou) and Helen Heller (Lynn); his aunt, Elaine Raabe; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy Pawluk, Ken and June Pawluk, Bob and Alvina Pawluk, Jim and Sue Wolcott, Dave and Shelly Schnier, LaRae Watson, and many precious cousins, nieces, and nephews.
