Darlien Johnson, 84

Darlien Marie Johnson, 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Covenant Living Retirement Community Care Center in Golden Valley, Minn.
Darlien, the daughter of Glen & Mabel (Olander) Johnson of Stanton, and sister of Paul Johnson, was born March 20, 1940 in Stanton.
Darlien is survived by niece, Jalaina Kanatzar of St Joseph, Mo.; and Olander first cousins that include Dean Olander, Donna McCall, Bette Cummins, and Mary Palmquist Haubold.
Darlien was a member of the Stanton Covenant Church and a Stanton High School graduate in 1957.  She began attending North Park College in Chicago and enjoyed choir and gospel teams. Before returning to college, she spent a year serving with a Covenant Caravan Team traveling to 13 churches assisting with Christian Education and Ministries. She spent another year working at Covenant Children’s Home in Princeton, Ill. before returning to North Park to graduate in 1964 with a BA degree, majoring  in Human Relations with a minor in Religion.
After graduating she had several secretarial administrative jobs over the years, including 17 years at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis and three years as assistant to the Administrator of Covenant Living in Golden Valley, Minn.
Over the years, Darlien was the pianist/organist at several Covenant churches in the Twin Cities. She also volunteered at Covenant Living Retirement Community both before and after she moved there in July 2020. She loved baking cookies and enjoyed leaving plates of cookies in the Center’s Café for all to share.
Darlien willed her body to the University of Minnesota, so instead of a memorial service she wanted a Coffee Time. Her friends hosted a Coffee Time in Memory of Darlien from Saturday, May 18, 2024, in the Fellowship Center and served her cookie recipe cookies. Darlien was especially grateful for her many close friends who were like family to her.
