Curtis Franzen, 68

Curtis Lynn Franzen, 68, of Elliott, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center in Red Oak.
Curtis was born Nov. 9, 1954, in Clarinda, the son of Dean and Wilma (Chubbick) Franzen. He was raised in Wales and Stanton and graduated from Stanton High School in 1973. Curtis was united in marriage to Sherry Miller on June 24, 1978, in Elliott. They made their home in Stanton and later moved to Elliott. After graduating, Curtis worked for a pig farmer, Wistrom Oil, Parker Hannifin, and retired from Oakview Construction after 25 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of the Elliott United Methodist Church and the IOOF Lodge. Curtis was known to be a master carpenter. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, trapping, canoeing and construction projects.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Larry Franzen; brother-in-law, Butch Miller; and father- and mother-in-law, Jake and Jan Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Franzen of Elliott; children, Jennifer Sherman and husband Jeff of Fleming Island, Fla.; Josh Franzen of Elliott; Joel Franzen and wife Laura of Kathleen, Ga.; Jacque Howell and husband Eric of Elliott; and Jesse Franzen and wife Emma of Oskaloosa, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; sister, Cheryl McArdle and husband Mark of Des Moines; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service was held Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
