Benjamin "Benji" Maxell, 48

Benjamin Eugene “Benji” Maxell, 48, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Red Oak, passed away at his home on Dec. 24, 2024.
Benji was born Dec. 31, 1975, in Red Oak, the son of Lisa Maxell and Roger “Chip” Hudson. He was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1994. He furthered his education at Briarcliff University and received his degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha. Benji later received his law degree from Creighton University. He started his career at Kutack Rock in Omaha, eventually transitioning to his own law firm.
He was united in marriage to Kelsey Duckworth in 2002 in Omaha, Neb. To this union two daughters were born, Addyson and Lilia. Benji loved spending time with his daughters and was a softball coach, among other activities. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved collecting Iowa memorabilia.
Preceding him in death were his father; his grandfather, Marvin Maxell; and his uncle, Scott Maxell. Survivors include his children, Addyson and Lilia of Omaha, Neb.; his mother, Lisa Jones of Red Oak; his brother, Sam Jones and family of Kansas City, Mo.; his grandmother, Judy Maxell of Red Oak; many aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a time and date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with cremation services.
