Barbara Requist, 93

Barbara Lee (Tebrinke) Requist, 93, Red Oak, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at Accura Healthcare in Stanton.
Barb was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Bushnell, Neb.; the eldest of Bernice “Bud” and Vera (McHenry) Tebrinke’s five children.
She graduated from Sterling Colorado High School in 1949. Later, she attended nursing school in Colorado.
After moving to Red Oak, Barb began a 40-year career at Murphy Memorial (later Montgomery County Memorial Hospital) in Red Oak. She loved her work in the nursery caring for newborns, and as a lab technician.
On July 6, 1951, Barb was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marvin Requist. Seventeen years later, they welcomed their only child, Marcy.
Barb was an active member of Red Oak’s First Baptist Church and First Christian Church.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, on Feb. 24, 2017; her parents, Bud and Vera Tebrinke; her father-in-law, Ivan Requist; her mother-in-law, Darleen (Gourley) Requist; her brothers, Richard Tebrinke and John Tebrinke; her sisters, Bernice (Tebrinke) Dean and Kathy (Tebrinke) Barmann; her brothers-in-law, Daniel Dean, Franklin Heuer, and Jim Holmberg; her sisters-in-law, Nan (Stillwell) Tebrinke and Verna (Requist) Heuer, and nephews Larry Heuer and Russ Rauba.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcy Requist and Ron Wikso of Red Oak; her grandson, Logan Kerkhoff and Genesis Rigg of Council Bluffs; her granddaughters, Andie Kerkhoff and Steve Acuna of Lakewood, Colo.; and Ashley Kerkhoff and Manny Hernandez of Council Bluffs; her brother-in-law, Larry Barmann; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Tebrinke and Dorothy Holmberg; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, and her “second daughter,” Laura Hill.
The Celebration of Life for 93-year-old Barbara Lee (Tebrinke) Requist of Red Oak will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in Red Oak. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., also at First Christian Church in Red Oak.
