Barbara Focht, 92

Barbara A. Focht of Stanton, the daughter of Ernest and Grace (Lloyd) Linn, graced the world with her presence on Sept. 22, 1931, on a farm nestled north of Red Oak in Montgomery County. Formerly of Red Oak and Villisca, her journey reached its serene conclusion on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Stanton, marking 92 years, 8 months and 15 days of a life lived with purpose and love.
Barb was raised on a farm north of Red Oak and in the Nyman area. Her educational voyage commenced in the seventh grade at Red Oak Schools, culminating in her graduation from Red Oak High School in l949. In her professional life, Barb worked for Brown’s Shoe Fit store and Houghton State Bank, weaving threads of dedication and integrity into her work.
Barb was united in marriage to Marvin E. Focht on Nov. 24, 1957, in Red Oak. Barb and Marvin moved to a farm in the Wallin area and to their home farm in l971. Barb’s spirit of generosity and involvement knew no bounds, as evidenced by her roles in her church and community. While her children were in school, she was active in Band Boosters, Montgomery County Extension, and Booster Club. Barb was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church, served on the Montgomery County Public Health board, and volunteered as an EMT at Villisca. Notably, her tenure of over 30 years on the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Foundation board stands as a testament to her unwavering dedication to the well-being of her community.
Barb was preceded by her parents; husband, Marvin Focht on Feb. 1, 2011; son, Rod Focht on June 2, 2014; daughter-in-law, LaDonna Focht; brothers, Darwin and Jack Linn; sisters, Alice Lantz and Sara Peterson; and brothers-in-law, Carl Vansant, Richard Peterson, and Merrill Lantz.
Barb is survived by three children, Jeff (Nora) Focht of Omaha, Neb.; Mark (Michelle) Focht of Villisca; and Sue (Dennis) Reynolds of Griswold; grandchildren, Andrew (Karla) Focht, Aaron (Rachelle) Focht, Ryan Focht, Amanda Focht and significant other Dan Fleming, Grant (Kaylee) Focht, Greg (Madison) Focht, Ally Focht and fiancé Thomas Melohn, Dakota Reynolds, Bryan (Andrea) Leary, Amanda (Rick) Mitchell, Drew Askey and significant other Alexis Kittelson; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Payton Focht; Beckhem, Lynden, Brelynn, and Lakyn Focht; Rhylan and Sunny Focht; Baker Mitchell; Paige, Kobe and Danika Mitchell; Rhett Fleming; Alek, Amelia, Alaina and Andersen Green; and Riley, Karlee and Aubree Leary; sister-in-law, Martha Linn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton. Burial will be at Morton’s Mill Cemetery.
Visitation with family will be on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Mamrelund Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the Fire and Rescue Departments of Villisca, Stanton and Red Oak and Tabor Lutheran Church.
