Griswold blasts 15 hits in 21-0 win over Hamburg

Ten different players recorded at least one hit for Griswold as they cruised to a 21-0 win over Hamburg in Corner Conference baseball Friday.
The Tigers scored two runs in the first and five in the second before exploding for 14 runs in the third on their way to the win.
Brayden Lockwood led the Tiger attack with three hits. Grayson Smith, Nollan Smith and Colton Frieze had two hits apiece. Smith tripled and drove in four runs and Frieze drove in three.
Grayson Smith and Nollan Smith combined to allowed two hits and strikeout nine on the hill. Grayson Smith was credited with the victory.
Blaine Gubser took the loss for the Wildcats after allowing eight hits and seven earned runs over two innings of work.

Stanton 9,
Griswold 7
Stanton held off a late Griswold rally to post a 9-7 win in Corner Conference baseball Thursday.
The Vikings led 9-3 heading into the top of the seventh when the Tigers plated four runs but that was as close as they would get.
Nolan Case picked up the win for the Vikings after scattering six hits and three earned runs while striking out 12.
Jayden Burke and Noah Marsh each notched two hits for Stanton.
Brayden Lockwood took the loss for Griswold. The senior allowed seven hits and five earned runs to go with four strikeouts.
Cavyn Turner had three hits and drove in a run and Colton Frieze had two hits and drove in three runs for Griswold.

Tigers sweep Sidney on diamond
Griswold grabbed a pair of dominating wins over Sidney 17-2 and 11-1 in Corner Conference baseball last Tuesday.
The Tigers won game one, the completion of a game suspended by rain back on May 29, with a pair of hits each coming from Brayden Lockwood, Kolbe Klindt and Brayden Beck. Lockwood drove in three runs and Klindt two.
Klindt also picked up the game one win with tossing four innings and allowing four hits and striking out nine.
Gabe Blanton took the game one loss on the mound. Blanton allowed six hits and two earned runs in four innings of work.
In the nightcap, the Tigers scored five first inning runs to take control early in the 11-1 victory.
Jaxon Ellts went the distance in the game two victory. The eighth grader allowed just one hit and struck out seven in the win.
Klindt and Calden Turner each collected two hits. Klindt drove in three runs and Turner one.
Cooper Hagen had the Cowboys’ one hit.

Fremont-Mills 7,
Griswold 3
Fremont-Mills plated five runs in the seventh inning to rally for a 7-3 win over Griswold in Corner Conference baseball in Griswold last Monday.
The Knights collected 12 hits in the victory.
Sam Sanchez was 3-for-4 with two runs driven in and Evan Laumann had two hits and two RBIs.
Laumann notched the win on the hill for the Knights after pitching a scoreless 1 and 1/3 innings.
Kolbe Klindt was credited with the loss/ The senior scattered nine hits and four earned runs while striking out five.
Brayden Lockwood, Calden Turner and Klindt had two hits each for the Tigers.

Griswold-CAM second at own
tournament
Griswold-CAM split its two games on Saturday to place second at its own Tiger Softball Invitational in Griswold.
The Tigers (13-3) knocked off Shenandoah (5-10) 11-3 before falling to Exira/EHK-Audubon (13-3) in the championship game, 12-4.
Exira/EHK-Audubon plated seven runs in a key fifth inning rally to secure the championship. Riley Miller picked up the win for the Spartans tossing four innings and allowing two hits while striking out eight.
In the opener, the Tigers collected 11 hits off Fillies’ starter Alisyn Hansen in the victory.
Amanda Houser and Keeley Kinney led the way with two hits and an RBI each while Ailey Wahlert was 2-for-3 with two runs driven in.
Wahlert also picked up the win. The sophomore gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out seven in the victory.

ACGC 7
Ailey Wahlert drove in the game-winning run and picked up the win in the circle for Griswold in an 8-7, out-of-conference win over ACGC Friday in girls softball.
Wahlert had a home run among her three hits and drove in four runs at the plate while scattering seven hits and four earned runs while striking out four in the victory.
Jerzee Huss took the loss for ACGC. The freshman allowed 10 hits and six earned runs.
Caydence Boals, Kailee Kautzky and Trinity Calhoun each had two hits and drove in runs.

Stanton 0
Griswold jumped out to an 8-0 lead after an inning and cruised to a 20-0 win over Stanton in four innings Thursday in Corner Conference softball.
The Tigers collected 14 hits in the win with Keeley Kinney going 3-for-4 at the plate and driving in three runs while picking up the win in the circle. The sophomore allowed two hits while striking out eight.
Brylee Steffen added three hits and Amanda Houser and Ailey Wahlert two hits each.
Quinn McDonald and Maven Allen each had a hit for Stanton.
Dreyer tossed the complete game and took the loss for the Vikings.
