Gary Halvin, 84

Gary Halvin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, in Lee’s Summit, Mo., at the age of 84. Born on Nov. 27, 1939, in Red Oak, Gary was the beloved son of Wayne and Effie Halvin.
Gary spent most of his life in Omaha, Neb., where he became a true Husker fan and developed a passion for horse racing. His love for horses was evident to all who knew him, and he cherished the excitement and camaraderie of the racetrack.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Halvin; and his children, Jeff Halvin, and Kevin and Julie Brase. He was a proud grandfather to Andrew Brase, Lauren Brase, and Sarah Brase. He also leaves behind his stepchildren, Gilbert and Jessica Braun and Hillary Sellers, along with his stepgrandchildren, Victoria Braun, Evie Rowland, and Finn Rowland.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Effie Halvin; his brother Stan Halvin; and his son Mark Halvin. Despite these profound losses, Gary’s strength and resilience were a testament to his character and love for his family.
Gary’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His warmth, generosity, and infectious enthusiasm for life will be dearly missed.
May Gary Halvin rest in peace, forever remembered for his love, dedication, and zest for life.
