East Mills FB ends run in Remsen

The East Mills Wolverines finished the football season 7-3 with a first-round playoff loss to St. Marys Remsen Friday, Nov. 1, 66-28.

First quarter action lasted over 45 minutes as both teams displayed jitters with turnovers and penalties. However, each team scored 20 points in that quarter, also. East Mills points came from Michael Schafer TD passes to Jackson Wray, Nic Duysen, and Davis McGrew, and a Duysen two-point conversion.

Second quarter play was all St. Marys Remsen, as the Hawks added four TDs to take a 48-20 lead into the half.

The Hawks scored again in the third quarter, and twice in the fourth, as the Wolverine offense could just not capitalize in the red zone.

The final Wolverine TD came in the final quarter as Schafer and Duysen connected for the final time in their prep careers, and Mason Crouse added the two-point conversion.

Schafer completed 32 passes for 295 yards and added 52 yards on the ground. He threw four TD passes and two interceptions, and had 3.5 tackles.

Duysen had 207 all-purpose yards with two TDs, recovered one fumble, and had five tackles; Brody Gordon 25 rushing yards, 4.5 tackles, and two punts for 61 yards; McGrew 87 receiving yards with one TD, six tackles, two kick off returns for 20 yards; Crouse 41 receiving yards with one two-point conversion, three tackles; Thomas Anderson 16 all-purpose yards, 1.5 tackles; Jackson Wray 75 all-purpose yards with one TD, .5 tackle, one fumble recovery, two kickoffs for 56 yards; Ryan Stortenbecker three kickoffs for 132 yards, five tackles; Tyler Prokop 7.5 tackles, one fumble recovery; Nolan Smiley 4.5 tackles; Ethan Yoshida one tackle; and Allen Cook, Wyatt Franks .5 tackle each.
