NPI to expand laundry service
The commercial laundry business at Nishna Productions, Inc., Red Oak is undergoing an expansion. The business, which initially opened in 2013, is located at 210 S. Broadway, in the same building as its can redemption center.
NPI Business Development Coordinator Seth Johnson said they already have several commercial laundry customers but felt the need to expand and grow even more.
“We think there are opportunities here in Southwest Iowa,” commented NPI Executive Director Sherri Clark.
The large facility on Broadway has the access and room to expand as needed to become a state-of-the art, high tech, energy efficient laundering process that meets the strict standards and recommendations for healthcare organizations and food service industries.
In addition to keeping the previous commercial washers and dryers, Johnson said they have purchased additional, even larger units to accommodate more business. A grant from Eaton Corporation in Shenandoah paid for a commercial ironing machine.
NPI representatives pick up the laundry and take it to the facility, where it is weighed and sorted. After washing and drying, it is folded and returned to the business. Dirty and clean laundry remain separated throughout the process, added Johnson, who is a certified linen and laundry manger through the Association of Linen Management. Current customers include Red Oak Chrysler, Pizza Ranch, Red Coach Inn, and The Firehouse.
To assist NPI with its growth, Clark said they have been working with Genesis Development in Indianola, which has a very successful commercial textile service facility in a sheltered workshop for the disabled, similar to NPI.
In addition to the commercial laundry facility and can redemption center, clients of NPI also offer janitorial services, document shredding as well as labor for NSK in Clarinda, Parker Hannifin in Red Oak and Oriental Trading in Omaha.
