ACCIDENTS
• On July 10, at 1:13 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 34 and 8th Street. Nichole King, 45, Villisca, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, was traveling east on Highway 34. James Ehlers, 84, Red Oak, driving a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis, was traveling north on 8th Street. According to the report, Ehlers failed to obey the stop sign and entered the intersection, where his vehicle was struck by the King vehicle. Damage to the King vehicle was estimated at $9,000, and it was considered a total loss. Damage to the Ehlers vehicle was about $5,000, and it was also considered a total loss. Ehlers and a passenger, Magdalene Ehlers, 82, Red Oak, were transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Rescue for minor injuries. Ehlers was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
