Red Oak gets the win over Shenandoah
SHENANDOAH — The Red Oak boys’ tennis team picked up the win (4-1 for the season) in their lone meet last week, defeating Shenandoah, 9-0, at Shenandoah High School last Tuesday.
Pete Walker kicked off the meet with a 10-1 win over Jacob Holmes. Both Jordan Nelson and Austin Streicher had 10-1 wins over their respective opponents. Nelson defeated Trent Turney, while Streicher defeated Josh Miller.
Geoff Sellers had a 10-0 win over Ryan Niccoli, the only shutout for the meet.
Craig White had a 10-3 win over Kyle Fischer, while Dixon Nelson won his match, 10-8 against Bradley Young.
In doubles, Jordan Nelson and White defeated Holmes and Turney, 10-8.
Walker and Streicher, the No. 2 doubles, defeated Young and Fischer, 10-5.
Finally, Dixon Nelson and Sellers defeated Niccoli and Meyer, 10-1. Red Oak was scheduled to compete Thursday at Lewis Central, but the meet was cancelled.
Red Oak will be home Tuesday when they play host to Clarinda.
