Villisca’s Obermeier named Substate 8 Coach of the Year

Villisca boys basketball coach Jim Obermeier has been honored as the Iowa High School Coaches Association’s Class 1A Substate 8 Coach of the Year.

            Obermeier guided Villisca to a 21-4 record this past season as the Bluejays made their first appearance ever in the Iowa Boys State Basketball Tournament.

            “Coach Obermeier is a fantastic coach,” said Villisca superintendent of schools Teresa Nook. “He supports students and yet has consistently reminded them that they are student athletes, students first. He’s a very good role model for the students.”
