REDee^OAK — Hunters with the Southwest Iowa Scattered Toms Chapters of the Nationalee^Wild Turkey Federation donated 50 frozen turkeys to needy residents of Montgomery and Adams counties last week, just in time for the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
This was the sixth year volunteers donated turkeys to indigent residents, chapter President David Agnew of Nodaway said.
The turkeys were purchased from Fareway Store of Red Oak. Agnew and chapter Treasurer Stanley Dunn picked up the turkeys and presented them to area churches and human services organizations serving hungry residents.
“The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are time for family, but they are also a time when many families are in need,” said George Thornton, chief executive officer of the national organization. “This is a great way for NWTF’s volunteers to help these families.”
