RED OAK — Police will be cracking down on motorists violating city parking ordinances.
City officials said last week they will begin stricter enforcement of parking rules in residential and commercial districts.
Of particular concern, city officials said, is violation of several codes relating to pedestrian safety.
But rather than cite residents and visitors, city officials hope motorists will take heed of the following parking rules:
• Parking is prohibited in crosswalks and on or across sidewalks.
• Motorists may not park within 20 feet of a mailbox installed for a postal carrier motor route.
• Parking is not allowed within 15 feet of an intersection on any street or alley.
• Vehicles should be parked more than 5 feet from any fire hydrants.
“The Red Oak Police Department will continue to enforce these ordinances,” a statement released by the city said. “Your cooperation is requested to abide by these laws and help to make the traffic on our city streets more accessible.
Motorists with parking questions can call City Hall at 712-623-6510 or the police department at 712-623-6500.
