No races on Red Oak ballot

The deadline for filing papers to run in city elections passed last week and there are no races on the ballot in Red Oak. There is one in Stanton and a ballot measure in Villisca, according to the auditor’s office press release.

Red Oak: Mayor Bill Billings is running for re-election, as is Ward 2 Councilman Bill Haufle. Tony Wernicke is running for the at-large council seat. Roger Waggener did not file for re-election.

Stanton: Dan Allen, Sheryl Porter and Eric Paulson filed for re-election to at-large council seats. They are being challenged by Jessica Sundberg.

Villisca: Mayor Marilyn Halda filed for re-election. Appointed Councilman Curtis Gaunt filed to run for that seat. No candidates filed for at-large seats currently held by Helen Lowe and Richard Mullin. Villisca also will have a ballot public measure regarding the make-up of the library board, asking voters to approve a change to four resident members and one non-resident member, who would be appointed by the mayor, with council approval, to serve a three-year term effective July 1, 2018.

Grant: Incumbent council members Lyn Sliger, Jeffrey Brown, Michael Amos, Steve Williams and Nancy Taylor filed for re-election. No one filed for Mayor Andrea Holldorf’s position.

Elliott: No one filed for the open mayor and three at-large council seats.

Coburg: Mayor Cal Myers filed for re-election, but no one filed for two open at-large seats.
