No one injured in snow plow/tractor trailer collision
VILLISCA — The driver of a county-owned snow plow escaped injury after a collision with a tractor-trailer Friday morning.
According to a report from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Michael Schriber, 40, of Gardner, Kan., drove his 2009 Volvo tractor-trailer into the left center of a 2006 International, driven by Scott Keith, 46, of Red Oak.
Keith was driving the dump truck with a snow blade attached to it on Highway 71, attempting to make a left turn onto 200th street. Schriber, also northbound, attempted to pass the dump truck, and in so doing, struck the vehicle in the driver’s side.
Schriber was cited for passing too near an intersection.
Neither driver was injured, and the tractor-trailer was towed from the scene by Darnold’s Repair with an estimated $20,000 in damages. The dump truck, owned by Montgomery County, sustained an estimated $15,000 in damages.
Villisca’s fire department responded to the scene for removal of undisclosed hazardous materials.
