No 3 Kuemper leaves town with win over Tigers

The Red Oak Tigers opened their home volleyball season against the Class 3A third-ranked Kuemper Knights last Thursday.
The varsity lost, 3-1, winning the third set. Set scores were 26-24, 25-13, 22-25 and 25-22. The girls rallied in every set but were only able to win one.
Sierra Athen had 14 kills, nine digs and two blocks in the match for the Tigers. Dana Marsden had seven kills, 17 assists, five digs and two blocks with 100 percent serving.
The only ace serve in the match for the Tigers was by Chloe Johnson, who also added six kills and two blocks.
Sarah Behrens added one kill, 14 assists and seven digs. Sydney Streicher collected 12 digs, two blocks and one kill.
Freshman Sophie Walker served 100 percent and added six kills, seven digs and two blocks to the Tiger tally.
Opening night featured JV and freshmen matches, too.
The night began with the freshmen team taking the match, 2-1, with set scores of 25-16, 12-25 and 20-18.
Leading the freshmen was Chloe Johnson with 10 kills. Sophie Walker had two kills and one dig with perfect serving, and Allie West had one kill and two digs with perfect serving.
