RO Firefighters tackle evening blaze
A Red Oak residence escaped damage after a fire incident June 28.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce said at 11:23 pm, the Red Oak Fire Department was dispatched to 3001 N 4th St. for a reported deck on fire.
At 11:26 p.m., the first emergency services personnel arrived on scene and confirmed that an exterior deck on fire. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the south deck area with no damage to the residence, and extinguish the flames.
An outside charcoal grill is believed to have been the cause. The grill had been utilized earlier and embers from the grill had started a portion of the south deck on fire.
No injuries to the residents or emergency services personnel were reported. Fire operations were ceased at 12:14 a.m. without incident.
