Montgomery County Unofficial election results
Unofficial election results are in for Montgomery County.
Locally, all the candidates in their respective races were running unopposed.
For County Supervisor District 1, incumbent Republican Charla Schmid took 483 votes. There were eight write-ins.
For County Supervisor District 2, incumbent Republican Mike Olson received 442 votes, and there were 14 write-ins.
Republican incumbent Mark Peterson won re-election for County Supervisor District 4, receiving 774 votes. There were 12 write-ins.
Republican incumbent Jackie Porter received 3,011 votes to be re-elected County Treasurer. There were 49 write-ins.
For County Recorder, Republican incumbent Carleen Bruning received a total of 3,078 votes, and there were 32 write-ins.
Incumbent Republican Drew Swanson received a total of 3,001 votes, and there were 43 write-in votes.
Also, Republican Jill Ozuna was officially elected as Montgomery County Auditor. Ozuna received 3,031 votes, and there were 38 write-ins.
The results for county township trustees and clerks and other county races were as follows:
• Lincoln Township Trustee, Bill Thomas, 63 votes; Lincoln Township Clerk, Connie Mellott, 62 votes.
• Garfield Township Trustee, Brian Huff, 83 votes, two write-ins; Garfield Township Clerk, Ron Gerlt, 79 votes, three write-ins.
• West Township Trustee, Daniel R. Jensen, 65 votes, one write in; West Township Trustee to fil a vacancy, Krista Huntsman, 62 votes; West Township Clerk, Joseph M. Jardon, 64 votes.
• Sherman Township Trustee, no candidate, 20 write-ins; Sherman Township Clerk, Jo A. Good, 82 votes, one write-in.
• Red Oak Township Trustee, Wayne Peterson, 147 votes; Red Oak Township Clerk, Gordon Arnold, 146 votes.
• Grant Township Trustee, Dwayne Vennerberg, 101 votes, one write-in; Grant Township Trustee to fill a vacancy, Dane E. Belt, 96 votes; Grant Township Clerk, no candidate, eight write-ins.
• Pilot Grove Township Trustee, no candidate, eight write-ins; Pilot Grove Township Trustee to fill a vacancy, no candidate, five write-ins; Pilot Grove Township Clerk, no candidate, five write-ins.
• Frankfort Township Trustee, Mark B. Allen, 90 votes; Frankfort township Clerk, Greta McCarthy, 90 votes.
• Washington Township Trustee, Jeff Vanderhoof, 70 votes, one write-in; Washington Township Clerk, Cheryl Case, 70 votes, one write-in.
Hospital Trustee, vote for four: Jill Carter Bergstrom, 2,503 votes; Kevin Cabbage, 2,364 votes; Roger Ehmke, 2,252 votes; Jason Poston, 2,250 votes, 40 write-ins.
Soil and Water Conservation Board, vote for two: Kirk Baird, 2,509 votes; Roger Cerven, 2,473 votes, 17 write-ins.
Soil and Water Conservation Board to fill a vacancy: Kerry Confer, 2,949 votes, 11 write-ins.
County Agricultural Extension Council, vote for five: Gayle Allensworth, 2,491 votes; Ryan Sundermann, 2,306 votes; Tammi VanMeter, 2,258 votes; Marta Clark-Moffett, 2,155 votes; Macey Ellis, 2,025 votes, 27 write-ins.
Looking to statewide races, in the race for U.S. Senate, Incumbent Republican Chuck Grassley received 2,507 votes to Democrat Michael Franken's 1,001. There were five write-ins.
For Iowa Governor, incumbent Kim Reynolds received 2,600 votes to Democratic challenger Deidre DeJear. Libertarian Rick Stewart received 81 votes.
For U.S. House District 3, Republican challenger Zach Nunn earned 2,349 votes to 1,152 votes for incumbent Democrat Cindy Axne. There were three write-in votes.
For District 9 State Senator, Republican Tom Shipley received 2,699 votes, and Democrat Tripp Narup received 828 votes.
Finally, for State Representative District 18, Republican Tom Moore earned 2,927 votes.
Republican Incumbent Paul Pate received 2,544 votes over Democratic challenger Joel Miller, with 939 votes.
Republican challenger Todd Halbur received 2,404 votes, more than double Democratic incumbent Rob Sand’s 1,054 votes.
For Treasurer of State, Republican Challenger Roby Smith got 2,296 votes to Democratic incumbent Michael Fitxgerald’s 1,165 votes.
Incumbent Republican Mike Naig took 2,594 votes over Democratic challenger John Norwood, with 884 votes.
Finally, for Attorney General, Brenna Bird, the Republican challenger, received 2,364 votes to incumbent Democrat Tom Miller, who received 1,103 votes.
The county voted to retain Supreme Court Justices Matthew McDermott and Dana Oxley; Court of Appeals Judges Paul B Ahlers and Gina Badding; District Four Court Judges Jeffrey L. Larson, Richard H. Davidson, and Kathleen A. Kilnoski; and District Four Associate Judge Charles D. Fagan.
Support for Constitutional Amendment One was also overwhelmingly positive, with 2,668 yes votes to 675 no votes.
