MCCF awards more than $32,000 to 13 local non-profits

More than $32,000 was awarded recently to 13 Montgomery County nonprofits through the fall 2021 grant cycle of the Montgomery County Community Foundation. 

The Red Oak Grand Theatre received $6,500 to go toward their Capital Campaign Donor Recognition wall; the Wilson Performing Arts Center received $5,000 for additional music park instruments; and the restored Burlington Northern Depot and World War II Memorial Museum received $4,000 to be used to stabilize the museum’s foundation walls. 

The Viking Center was granted $510 for a flagpole project; Friends of the Red Oak Trails will use the $750 they received on an east parking lot landscape project; and city hall in Villisca will get a makeover with the $750 they were allotted. 

A water feature update will be installed at the Montgomery County Family YMCA with the $1,500 they received; playground mulch will be purchased with the $2,285 the Red Oak Child Development Center was granted; and members of the Stanton Community Foundation will use the $1,500 they were granted for community artwork. 

An Enarson Elementary Outdoor classroom project will be created with the $1,600 awarded to Southwest Valley Schools; Nishna Productions, Inc., will use the $2,748 they were awarded for residential automated external defibrillators; and members of the Southwest Iowa Fishing Team, Inc., will create a fish habitat conservation project with the $4,350 they received. 

A total of $32,800 was awarded to these entities. Over the past 23 years, more than $2.2 million in grants and scholarships have been awarded by MCCF.  For more information on MCCF, contact Stacey Goodman at 1-800-794-3458.
