Garage fire in Red Oak

Multiple area fire departments tackled an evening blaze.
On Dec. 2 at approximately 8:20 p.m., the Red Oak Fire Department, Stanton Fire Department, and Elliott Fire Department were dispatched to 108 A St. on a report of a garage fire.
Upon arrival, fire crews had a fully engulfed garage with extension beginning to the occupied house. Crews confirmed the occupants were evacuated and began suppression operations.
Fire crews were able to keep the fire contained to the garage, which preserved the house. There were two dog kennels occupied within the garage area that were unfortunately taken by the fire.
A wood burning stove inside the garage had been utilized approximately one hour prior to the fire call.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters reported. Fire crews wrapped up fire/ground operations at approximately 10 p.m.
Mutual aid was also provided by the Red Oak Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, MidAmerican Energy Utilities, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office communications.
