Firefighters tackle grass fire

At 11:23 a.m. the Stanton Fire Department, Red Oak Fire Department, and Elliott Fire Department were dispatched to 270th Street between M Avenue and N Avenue for a report of a grass fire.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that a trailer hauling hay had a mechanical issue causing a fire.
The fire spread throughout the road ditch and into a small gathering of trees.
The fire was quickly extinguished without incident. There were no injuries to Firefighters or civilians.
The departments were assisted at the scene by the Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Montgomery County Communications, and Montgomery County Secondary Roads.
