Fire in Elliott

Multiple fire departments were called to the scene of a weekend fire in Elliott.

At around at 12:40 p.m April 27, the Elliott, Red Oak, and Grant fore departments were dispatched to the lot west of 92 Main Street after a report of a detached large pole barn on fire. Upon arrival, a large machine shed/pole barn was discovered to be fully engulfed in fire. The Griswold Fire Department was also called to the scene.  Due to roof collapse hampering suppression operations, an excavator was brought in to assist with debris removal to complete suppression operations. The fire was brought under control at around 2:30 p.m. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were assisted at the scene by Montgomery County Communications, MidAmerican Utilities, and the Elliott Public Works Department.
