County ISU Extension recognized

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach county offices in the southwest area announced award recipients for outstanding achievements in 2021.
Adams, Montgomery, and Page counties received recognition in youth development for demonstrating excellence in programming by developing partnerships that utilize a cooperative approach. Staff from three counties worked together to address a programming need identified in the Southwest Valley School District. The Youth Entrepreneur program allowed students the opportunity to explore their community, career opportunities, needs, and personal strengths. It stressed the importance of jobs that do not necessarily require a 4-year degree and the idea that businesses can thrive even in small communities. It helped youth understand that there are many options and opportunities available for them to pursue. It gave them ideas, inspiration, and hope for the future. The program helped prepare the upcoming generation to value and invest in their own communities. It helped open a door to relationships/partnerships with local businesses, assuring responsible, invested individuals to fill existing and future business positions.
