Council approves budget

The Red Oak City Council met in special session April 24 to approve the city’s proposed fiscal year 2023-24 budget.
After a public hearing, in which no oral or written comments were received, the council moved to discussion. The proposed budget was $13,649,615.  
The budget was approved as presented.
The council also held the second readings of an ordinance granting to MidAmerican Energy Company, its successors and assigns, the right and non-exclusive franchise to acquire, construct, erect, maintain, and operate in the City of Red Oak, a natural gas system and to furnish and sell natural gas to the city and its inhabitants and authorizing the city to collect franchise fees for a period of 25 years. The second reading was approved.
The council also held the second reading of an ordinance granting MidAmerican Energy Company, its successors and assigns, the right and non-exclusive franchise to acquire, construct, erect, maintain, and operate in the city of Red Oak, an electric system, and communications facilities and to furnish and sell electric energy to the City and its inhabitants and authorizing the city to collect franchise fees for a period of 25 years. The second reading was approved.
