$34,200 in MFFC funds awarded

Sixteen Montgomery County nonprofits were awarded funds recently through the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF), working in partnership with the Red Oak Heritage Foundation.
For the fall 2022 grant cycle, $34,200 was split among the  local organizations and community projects. Including these most recent grants, the Montgomery County Community Foundation has distributed more than $2.4 million in grants and scholarships over the past 24 years.
The following organizations recevied funding:
• Animal Alliance Rescue, Animal Alliance Rescue critical care, $ 2,000.
• City of Villisca, tables - Villisca Community Building, $ 1,200.
• Friends of Viking Lake State Park Inc., outdoor movie entertainment equipment, $375.
• Montgomery County Child Development Association, educational materials, $2,500.
• Montgomery County Conservation Foundation, interpretive signage updates, $1,000.
• Montgomery County Family YMCA, commercial water softener, $5,225.
• Nishna Productions, Inc., Raizer lift-up chair, $2,000.
• Optimist Club of Red Oak, Red Oak Optimist sign project, $2,000.
• Red Oak Grand Theatre, Inc., commercial sump pump backup and ice machine, $3,800.
• Red Oak Soccer Inc., Red Oak Soccer Inc. equipment, $3,375.
• Restored Burlington Northern Depot & World War II Museum, attic insulation and bat abatement, $2,000.
 • Southwest Valley Early Childhood Education Center, tables, supplies and learning tools, $2,500.
 • Southwest Valley Middle School, sound equipment for sports facilities, $1,650.
• Stanton Public Library, new children’s computer, $1,150.
• Wellmark Healthy Hometown – Stanton, outdoor physical activity/recreation equipment, $1,000.
• Wilson Performing Arts Center, LED lighting upgrade to facility, $2,425.
All grantees met the criteria as Montgomery County nonprofit agencies or organizations with charitable missions supporting community needs in the areas of civic engagement, culture, health, education, and social services. Only organizations providing services in Montgomery County were eligible to apply.
These grant funds were made possible by the generosity of donors to the Montgomery County Community Foundation and the following charitable funds through the community foundation: The Focht Family Endowed Fund for Villisca; Stanton Endowment Fund; VHS Class of 1977 Endowment Fund; and Villisca Community Endowment Fund.
The Montgomery County Community Foundation works with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to create permanent and expendable funds—such as those above—that address changing, vital community needs and interests.
