New trailhead in Red Oak

Construction is taking place on a new trailhead near the intersection of Highway 34 and Eastern Avenue. Beau Boeye, with Friends of the Red Oak Trails, said the trailhead will include a 10-vehicle graveled parking lot with recreational trail access from Eastern Avenue. Funds for the project came from grants and the city of Red Oak. Boeye added, Friends of the Red Oak Trails will be rebooting its fundraising campaign to pay for landscaping and a trailhead kiosk for the new area, along with the establishment of an arboretum along this portion of the trail system.
