New Stanton/FM Superintendent selected

The Fremont-Mills and Stanton Community School Boards have announced the appointment of David Gute as the shared Superintendent of Schools for their districts. Gute will replace Dr. Christopher Herrick, who is retiring on June 30.

Gute is currently serving as the 7th through 12th grade principal at Riverside Community School, in Oakland, and has been in this position for the past nine years. Before becoming Principal at Riverside, he taught 5th grade and then junior high science at the Riverside Middle School. While teaching, he coached several Junior High and High School sports. In his time as Principal, Mr. Gute has focused on improving student achievement, implementing personal professional development, and increased opportunities for teacher collaboration. Mr. Gute earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Education, and a School Specialist Certification all from Iowa State University. He and his wife, Jodi, have three elementary-aged children.

Gute will assume Superintendent duties July 1.
